Richmond Family photography
How to choose the best location for my family photography session?
In Melbourne and our inner city suburbs like Richmond, we are very lucky to have a wide variety of options to choose from when it comes to select a backdrop for your session. Here I will try to show you a few options that are great for families living in Melbourne Inner city in suburbs like Richmond, Port Melbourne, South Melbourne, Albert Park, and even Middle Park and St Kilda.
I am a big believer in going pass a pretty picture and I want your story to be told through the images, so always consider familiar places. See my girls used to go to this tiny little local park, that was a bit old and derelict but the train used to come past close to it, so the highlight of the trip would be to waive to the driver as he was coming in and ask him to toot, and most times they would! But guess what… I don’t have any images of that memory because the backdrop was nothing spectacular, but I would have loved to look back to images of that scene and I would keep those moments very close to my heart. So when considering the places to choose for your session, always keep in mind locations that are meaningful to you and your family. I can also make suggestions on a few local options. Do you have a local caffe where they know the name of your kids and how they like their babycino? Well, that’s part of you and should totally be recorded too.
Things to consider when choosing your family photography location:
Make it meaningful to you and your family
Think of places that you visit often as a family
Visit the places you are considering for your session at a similar time your session will be held
Avoid crowded areas specially inner city, there are some great options and laneways in Melbourne cbd. If you would like to have your session along Hosier Lane then we will meet at around 8am, any time after that and the lanes will be crowded with tourists.
